Best Motorcycle Bluetooth Headset

Looking for the best motorcycle Bluetooth headset? You’ve come to the right place. Sadly enough the motorcycle Bluetooth headset market is dominated by cheap Chinese rip-offs, so you do need to be a bit careful when selecting a headset to buy. I’ve looked at all the Bluetooth headsets before myself, so I figured to write a motorcycle Bluetooth headset buying guide for you.

I’ll start off with listing some of the benefits, then I’ll tell you what to look out for. After that, I will show you my top 5, and explain why those are the best Bluetooth headsets for your money.

Talking with your biking buddies

Bluetooth headsets are amazing for talking with your biking friends when you are riding. The best devices can stay in contact even when you are over a mile away from each other. Bluetooth headsets can be paired, which means they will automatically connect whenever you are near your friends.

Bluetooth devices are almost always based on universal intercom (at least the ones in this review are). This means that you and your friends don’t need to have the same brand and device to talk together. If one person has a Sena 20S-01 and another has a GBGS Motorcycle communication headset, the headsets will still work perfectly together.

Listening to music, radio, and GPS

Aside from talking with your friends, Bluetooth headsets can be used to listen to music, the radio or even your GPS device. The best devices allow you to do multiple at a time. For example, receive GPS instructions with low background music while still being able to talk with your friends. If you’re mainly into listening to music, motorcycle speakers may be an option as well.

What to look out for

There are a few things that you may want to look out for when searching for a good Bluetooth motorcycle headset. I’ve listed them here and based the top 5 on these factors:

  • Bluetooth version
  • Weight (lighter is more comfortable)
  • Sound quality
  • Microphone quality
  • Ease of control
  • Noise reduction
  • Durability
  • Warranties

Sena 20S-01 Motorcycle Bluetooth Communication System

Sena 20S-01 Motorcycle Bluetooth HeadsetThe Sena 20S-01 is the best motorcycle Bluetooth headset you can find. The price tag does show that as well, yet I believe it is worth every penny. When it comes to audio quality it not only beats all the competitors, but it also comes with Sena’s Advanced Noise Control. Sena’s Advanced Noise Control blocks out all ambient noise. This means that even through heavy rain and storms, you can still keep communicating clearly.

The 20S-01 comes with multitasking technology, allowing you to listen to music, the GPS, and talk with your friends all at the same time. You can even call hands free with your mobile phone if necessary. The Bluetooth motorcycle headset includes both motion sensors and voice control, which makes it the most comfortable option out there.

Sena 10S-01 Motorcycle Bluetooth Communication System

Sena 10S-01 Motorcycle Bluetooth HeadsetThe Sena 10S-01 is the older version of the 20S-01, and is usually about 20% cheaper than its successor. It contains most of the features the Sena 20S-01 has. The Sena 10S-01 has a slightly smaller range, slightly less battery life, lacks the DOT safety certification, and has no motion control. For the remainder the sound quality is slightly worse. Aside from that it is pretty much the same device. Includes the smartphone app, 4-way intercom, Bluetooth 4.1, and the 2 year warranty.

Sena SMH10-10 Motorcycle Bluetooth Headset

Sena SMH10-10 Motorcycle Bluetooth HeadsetIn third place yet another Sena device. The Sena SMH10-10 is an even older model, yet still one of the best you can find. Originally made in 2012, the Sena SMH10-10 features Bluetooth 3.0, a 0.55 mile range and a 12 hour battery life while talking. The device is mostly comparable to the Sena 10S-01, aside from the older Bluetooth version and the lack voice control.

Overall this is the cheapest Sena I recommend. There are cheaper Sena devices on Amazon, but most of them are either fake, or a model I would not suggest. If you want to buy a cheap Bluetooth motorcycle headset I would recommend the GBGS model at the very bottom instead.

  • 55 mile range
  • Bluetooth 3.0
  • Manually controlled
  • 12 hours of talking battery life
  • Multi intercom connections possible (max 4)

Buyee Bt Interphone Bluetooth Motorcycle Headset

Buyee BT Interphone Motorcycle Bluetooth HeadsetThe Buyee BT Interphone is one of the cheaper Bluetooth motorcycle headsets out there. With a 0.5 mile range, and a waterproof design the Buyee BT Interphone deserves its fourth place in the  best Bluetooth motorcycle headset list. The BT Interphone includes echo cancellation and noise suppression, and lasts up to 6 hours while talking.

The Buyee BT Interphone does come with a few downsides sadly enough. The microphone quality is downright bad, and the charging cable is a non-standard format. The material itself also seems no too durable.

  • 2 ounces
  • 5 mile range
  • Manually controlled
  • 6 hours of talking battery life
  • Multi intercom connections possible
  • Noise reduction and echo removal
  • Decent quality sound

GBGS Motorcycle Communication Headset

GBGS Motorcycle Bluetooth HeadsetLastly, we have the GBGS Motorcycle communication headset. The GBGS has two major upsides. Firstly, it’s cheap. Secondly, it works.

For a device that costs less than half of its competitors, you can’t expect too much. As such, the overall quality is indeed pretty bad. To list the good things first, the talking time battery life is about 8 hours, and it supports up to 6 devices for communication (two max on the intercom at the same time). The volume is pretty high, and the range is roughly 0.3 miles.

The first downside is that the GBGS Motorcycle communication headset is manually controlled by hand. This can be quite a hassle when touring. The overall quality is poor and the Bluetooth headset breaks down easily. If you are on a very tight budget, or are planning to use the device only once or a few times, it is a good budget Bluetooth motorcycle headset.

GBGS Motorcycle Communication Headset key specs

  • 8 ounces
  • 3 mile range
  • Manually controlled
  • 8 hours of talking battery life
  • 6 communication connections with 2 intercom connections possible
  • Loud speakers, moderate quality microphone
